Installation:

You can install Volocity on any computer (Mac, Windows, and 64bit) – but some large or complicated datasets may only render and be able to be analysed on a big powerfull workstation computer (similar to the workstation we have in the OBC). If the program keeps crashing and is very slow then you are probably out of computing power and should take the dataset to a more powerful computer!

Download and install Volocity  Download to your computer, double click on the package and install.

The first time you open volocity it will ask you to ‘select licensing method for this product’ – click on the server option and type: 128.200.23.201 at port 15002 (should already be inputted there).

Opening Volocity

When you try to open the volocity program a box will pop up wanting you to enter your user name and password. Contact Adeela Syed for an account, this is separate from your confocal account (but will be set up with the same username)

The dialogue box also gives you multiple choices of module packages, please only choose “complete” or “deconvolution” if you are doing measurements or reconstruction. For basic image processing select “core”

Remember you MUST book time on the Google calendar and you MUST logoff when you are done.

Troubleshooting opening or using Volocity

If Volocity will not open:
1 – Did you enter correct username/password (if not contact Adeela Syed )
2 – We only have one service license – if someone signed up and has not yet logged off you will not be able to login. Contact the user before you, or Adeela, for help.
3 – If the program keeps crashing and is very slow then you are probably out of computing power and should take the dataset to a more powerful computer.
