Scheduling/Billing is done via iLabs:

To get started, you must register for an account:
- Navigate to the core page here:
- In the upper-right-hand corner of the screen select the ‘Register using UCI Credentials’ option
- You will be directed to an authentication page where you will need to enter your University of California Irvine credentials
- Once you have entered your credentials, click the ‘Login’ button
- You will be directed to an iLab Registration page where you will need to select your PI/Lab and verify your contact information.
- Once your registration has been submitted, your PI will receive a notification that you have requested membership to their lab in iLab. They will need to approve your membership and assign any KFS Accounts for your use.
To Create an Equipment Reservation:
Once you have been accepted into your PI’s lab and assigned KFS Accounts, you can schedule equipment time.
- Navigate to the core page here:
- At the upper right hand of the page click ‘Sign In’ and then select the ‘Sign In using UCI Credentials’ option.
- Enter your Institution Credential and password, and sign in.
- Select the Schedule Equipment tab and click on the ‘OBC microscopes” or OBC workstations” buttons and then select to the instrument of interest, then “view schedule”. Click and drag on the time frame you would like to schedule your reservation for.
- A window will pop up that will allow you to verify your reservations details and provide payment information before saving the reservation.
Beginning March 2021, there will be a slight increase in recharge rates. Rates listed below reflect the increased rates.

In order to accommodate experiments that require time-lapse imaging over long periods, we have a special rate structure:
OVERNIGHT Time-lapse rates:
Time-lapse rates run from 6pm to 8am the next morning (14 hours) M-F. Users can start anytime after 6pm and will be billed the first 3 hours only @ $25/hour (total $75 for up to 14 hours).
WEEKEND Time-lapse rates:
Time-lapse rates run from 6pm FRIDAY EVENING to 8am MONDAY morning (38 hours). Users can start anytime after 6pm SATURDAY and will be billed the first 5 hours for every 24 hours, and for a maximum of 10 hours charged for 38 hours.
Full service image acquisition (trial basis):
In order to gauge demand, we are establishing, on a trial basis, a full service image acquisition service. There is limited time available for full service image acquisition at $75/hour including consultation time. For this service you need to consult with Adeela as to what you want imaged, provide your samples freshly prepared, and images will be acquired. NOTE service subject to availability of microscope time.
